Frauscher and Porsche have announced that they will jointly produce an all-electric powered daycruiser. The Austrian shipyard has been making electric boats since 1955, while the Stuttgart-based company jumped into this world a few years ago with the Porsche Taycan. The new vessel will be born in 2024 from the platform of the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air but will be powered by the new 100% electric Porsche Macan
A boat propelled by Porsche engine
An agreement between the Austrian shipyard Frauscher and the German car manufacturer-with models among the world’s most famous and desired-will result in an exclusive electric-powered boat. The new boat will have a length of 8.67 meters and will be developed from the platform of the beloved Frauscher 858 Fantom Air. The F.A. Porsche studio will also sign off on the design of some of the boat’s details: the wheelhouse, steering wheel and console along with the controls and display, but it is at the propulsion level that we find the biggest news. Porsche provided Frauscher with the electric powertrain platform for the future Porsche Macan, optimizing and adapting the system specifically for use on boats. The Premium Platform Electric (PPE) system includes the 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. the permanently excited synchronous electric motor (PSM) block and all electronics for internal connections. The battery can be recharged quickly and on direct current (or alternating current) using 800-volt technology.
