Sanlorenzo Academy

Highly skilled craftsmen are needed to build quality boats. The Sanlorenzo Academy was born from an idea of the CEO of Sanlorenzo Yacht, Massimo Perotti, and aims to train new high-level technicians, starting with training and ending with recruitment.

What the Sanlorenzo Academy foresees

The course “Plant installer and maintenance technician” will start at the beginning of April 2019 and provides for the training of personnel for the contractors of the nautical supply chain operating in Sanlorenzo, with two specializations:

  • Installer/maintainer of nautical electrical systems
  • Installer/maintainer of nautical plumbing and air conditioning system

The course is aimed at 20 people in a state of non-employment, people with greater difficulties in employment, people at risk of long-term unemployment resident and/or domiciled in Liguria with a technical diploma of upper secondary school (technological system – industry and crafts and scientific maturity) with a knowledge of English.

The duration is 800 hours, divided into classroom lessons and practical training in laboratories, followed by 6 months of internship in the company. The final objective is to provide students with both technical and practical skills and “soft skills” (stress management, conflict, criticality, planning, communication, etc.), integrating their preparation with specific knowledge and practical experience to enrich the human resources of contractors with new motivated and prepared forces.

Further courses are planned, to be activated in the second half of 2019, for the training of new multi-purpose operators for the boating industry, nautical mechanical fitters and nautical fitters.

At the end of a job in the nautical sector

Sanlorenzo Academy has not only a formative aspect but also a practical one. At the end of the internship period, 60% of the Academy members who pass the final exam will be employed on a fixed-term contract for a period of at least 6 months by the main contractors in Sanlorenzo. The start of the Sanlorenzo Academy project was made possible thanks to the Liguria Region and the co-financing of the European Union through contributions received from the European Social Fund 2014-2020.
