Nerea’s new NY40 is preparing to make her world premiere at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival, from 6 to 11 September 2022. This 12-metre yacht promises to be one of the most interesting open boats of 2022.
It is the yard’s second model, after the NY24, the brand’s forefather. Production on this boat already focused on the creation of units of absolute prestige, embroidered on the needs of each owner. The evolution now declines this DNA on larger dimensions and bears the signature of designers Alessio Battistini and Davide Bernardini of the IdeaeITALIA studio for the external lines. Engineer Maurizio Zuccheri, on the other hand, took care of a markedly sporty hull. Unlike her predecessors, the NY40 is designed with numerous storage areas and a below-deck area that also allows for multi-day cruises.
Nerea NY40 – Deck
The central sundeck can accommodate up to three people and below is ample storage and the engine room (in the case of inboard engines). The amidships dining area consists of two teak-finished folding tables and a settee, allowing six people to have dinner in total comfort. The galley can be customized with a fridge, ice maker, hob, sink and cooking space.
The steering console is hi-tech, designed to have an intuitive and comfortable interface, thanks to the latest generation of navigation instrumentation and ergonomic appearance. Above is a large T-Top with a sporty and sophisticated design, almost 4 metres long, to protect both the helm station and the central cockpit area. The bonnet at the bow, easily accessible with safe and generous side-decks, provides additional space for relaxing on a comfortable sunbathing area.
Nerea NY40 – Interior
The interior layout is extremely versatile, with lots of customization options in terms of finishes and equipment, as well as two different solutions for the bow and two for the stern. On one side the owner can have a double bed or a comfortable C-shaped sofa from side to side, on the stern he can choose between a double bed and 2 single beds, which can be moved and connected into a single bed. Elements of the Italian shipbuilding tradition (polished steel, cabinetry, liveability of the deck) meet modern, automotive-inspired design. Among the elements that stand out the most is the stern platform, made in collaboration with Besenzoni, which is made with a first fixed portion and three further steps that can be moved down or up, functioning as a tender lift, gangway, swim ladder and swim platform.
Nerea NY40 – Propulsion
As far as propulsion is concerned, the boat is available with sterndrives, diesel or petrol, and it is possible to choose between two Volvo Penta V6 280hp engines, two D4 300hp engines, two D6 380hp engines or D6 440hp diesel engines, for an expected cruising and top speed, in the latter case, of 35 and 42 knots respectively. Outboard enthusiasts can choose this type of propulsion with the possibility of also installing three powerful 450hp Mercury Racing engines.
