Garmin launches the new Quatix 6, the latest frontier of hi-tech watches.
Between joysticks, plotters, and apps it is getting easier and easier to navigate now. There are so many tools that technology makes available to us, and now comes Garmin’s Quatix 6, the next-generation multisport smartwatch equipped with a high-sensitivity GPS, barometer, altimeter, and 3-axis compass, which provides a number of features dedicated to the boating world. All this in a 47 mm case with a 1.3-inch color display with LED backlighting, on which you can read in any kind of light.
Garmin Quatix 6: when the watch steers your boat
With this super high-tech watch from Garmin, the Quatix 6, one connects directly wirelessly to compatible multifunction chartplotters to keep tabs on many of the boat’s on-board sensors directly on the watch and, via the GNT 10 transceiver, connects to all NMEA 2000 networks.
What you can keep track of
- speed
- depth
- temperature
- autopilot management
- the saving of waypoints on the chartplotter
- the Fusion entertainment system
- tidal information
- MOB (man overboard) function
The Garmin Quatix 6 supports BlueChart g3 cartography, which integrates Garmin content with Navionics data. When paired with one of Garmin’s inReach series satellite communicators, it will give the assurance that you will always be tracked, no matter where in the world you decide to go with your boat.
In fact, InReach allows you to stay in touch with land even if you are in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. You can send e-mails and messages to whomever you want and provide directions to your movements in real time and, in an emergency, activate the distress call through the Iridium global network and the 24-hour GEOS international station.
Quatix 6 also works on the ground
Garmin’s new sportwatch also proves useful in the city and in the office. In addition to receiving e-mails, text messages and alerts directly on the watch with the Smart Notification function, it allows you to make contactless payments via Garmin PayTM, listen to music through Bluetooth headphones, and practice activities with the support of your fitness monitoring and dedicated sports and fitness functions.
The wrist-mounted heart rate sensor and Pulse Ox2 sensor provide details on fitness activities while also measuring blood oxygen saturation level. It provides the wearer with indication of the number of steps taken during the day, total distance traveled, calories burned since midnight, floors of stairs taken, hours of sleep, caloric consumption from recorded physical activity, daily goal to be achieved, and its countdown of steps yet to be taken. All this data is uploaded to the Garmin ConnectTM app to keep track of results as the days go by.
