In 2017, Delphia Yachts designed the Bluescape 1200 to meet the needs of all those who looked for comfort, easy handling and safe power as well as a comfortable yet affordable floating lounge. The boat was a great success, awarded as “Best Boat 2017” in the “Best for Travel” category and with a nomination as “Power Boat of the year 2018” in the Displacement category. Now, the shipyard has decided to go further, providing the excellent Andrej Skratz and Tony Castro’s project with a flybridge and therefore with a more Mediterrean design.
The result is less Nordic cruiser with wider open surfaces that, in the standard version, find their best expression in the spacious forward solarium. The maximum headroom reaches 3.63 meters, which clearly suggests the marine ambition of this boat that, despite its B category, is often considered as a river boat.
AT SEA. The model we test on the River Havel in Werder, 36 km from Berlin, is fitted with one single Volvo D3-200 engine that delivers a maximum speed of 11 knots, in line with the comfort choice of this model at the expense of power. Alternatively, if you prefer, Delphia gives the possibility to install up to two Nanni N4.140 engines for a total power of 250HP.
From the pilot house positioned on the port side, equipped with a Simrad G07 display, the view is excellent and a side door gives instant access to the starboard side-deck in order to facilitate maneuvers both aft and forward. The manouevrability is excellent and the boat glides softly on the water. This feeling is confirmed by the very short turn radius that makes it almost spin around: it’s a stunning result, especially if we consider the type of propulsion provided. Despite being not very powerful, the Volvo D3 delivers an appreciable acceleration, with a cruising speed of 8 knots at above 2,500 tr/min and a fuel consumption of just 10 l/h. Two optional bow and stern thrusters facilitate maneuvers in and out the port.
INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. In addition to easy handling, the 1200 Bluescape Fly offers comfortable interiors, luxury cherry wood finishes and elegant fabric seats. The cockpit, flooded with a huge amount of natural light by side windows, houses the living zone equipped with comfortable sofas around a large rectangular table positioned just behind the pilot house while the dinette is positioned along the port topside. Interiors also include a galley with an oven, three induction stoves and a fridge with optional freezer. The interior layout is clearly designed to enjoy the boat with the crew, creating a continuity of spaces in the living area.
The full-beam master cabin, equipped with a double bed and a private bathroom, is positioned forward while the guest cabin is situated on the port side. The model we’ve tested has a bathroom in the starboard side and a shower box. However, Delphia gives the owner the chance to choice between three different layouts. The L-shaped sofa in the dinette can be converted into an additional bed, making the boat perfect for 8 passengers. On the flybridge – accessible from a ladder in the bow – there is a wet bar, a large sunbathing platform that can accommodate up to 8 people and an additional helm station with sunshade and raised seat. From this station, too, the feeling of easy handling is extreme.
IN CONCLUSION. The Delphia 1200 Bluescape Fly is designed for all those who look for a low-draft, easy-to-steer, comfortable and elegant cruiser. The boat is perfect to enjoy the sea with your partner, family or friends. Passengers, indeed, can have lunch around a large table or sunbathe on the comfortable flybridge. The ideal owner is a person who is not interested in performance but prefers to have a floating lounge where to enjoy the sea without the conventional restraints of a boat. In short, the Delphia 1200 Bluescape Fly is the ideal option for those who love slow life but prefer motorboats to sailboats.

The shipyard was established by Piotr and Wojciech Kot in 1990. Since then, the company has become the major saiboat manufacturer in Poland, with a range of products that includes boats from 7 to 15 meters in length. Today, Delphia dedicates most of its activity to the manufacture of motoryachts.
In early 2019, the company was acquired by Beneteau, the major sailing and motorboats manufacturer in the world.
