This De Antonio has three outboards: you can’t see them, but they are there

The modern walkaround is one of the most successful boats of the last nautical era. At Düsseldorf Boat Show we saw the boats from a shipyard that has been able to innovate and create something original in this field. We are talking about De Antonio Yachts, which was born in 2012 and today has a walkaround line from 28 to 46 feet: in short, from 8 to 14 meters.

One of the features that immediately catches the eye, or rather, that immediately hardly noticeable, is that they are motorized boats with outboard. The engines, however, are located under the stern sundeck. Just press a simple electronic button to raise the cover (WATCH THE VIDEO). The boats of the Spanish shipyard are available in various versions depending on the use you want to make of them: there are a cruiser or open versions depending on the model.

D42, the novelty of De Antonio Yachts

At the Dusseldorf Show, the newest model from the shipyard was the D42, the latest addition to the range. Powered by a 350 horsepower Mercury Verado triple engine, it is 12 meters long and is suitable both for short cruises with family and friends and as a weekend boat.

The D42, thanks to its stern with a platform and large sundeck is well livable by more people in total comfort. It is equipped with a tender garage (WATCH THE VIDEO), with a crane to move it towards the water and dinette convertible in 3 different configurations, in addition to an external galley in the cockpit where you can also install an optional icemaker. Below deck, there is an area just below the wheelhouse where you can lie down and chat, like a sort of saloon, while at the bow there is a high and wide cabin. Halfway between the two is a bathroom with a shower.

Why outboards?

A single outboard cost less than inboards. In this case the outboards choice is a little bit more expensive, because of the number of engines: 3. But the outboards are easier to maintain, also for their position on the boat. In addition, on a boat of almost 13 meters, with a platform and a stern sundeck, you have a triple engine from 300 to 400 horsepower each, which makes the boat easy to manage. In this way, the boat can easily reach speeds of over 45 knots, with a cruising speed of about 26 knots.
