The Swift Trawler range is a great Beneteau classic. They are boats that were born for cruising and there are over 1,000 owners worldwide who have chosen to sail a Swift Trawler. There is now a new addition to the large family of 35- to 62-footers. It is the new Beneteau Swift Trawler 48, almost 15 metres long (14.74 metres overall) and 4.50 metres wide. Today we see a brief preview of this new motor yacht set to debut in 2022.
Beneteau Swift Trawler 48
With its three double cabins and an optional double berth in the saloon, this boat actually sleeps up to 8 people. A middle ground between the top of the range, the Grand Trawler 62, and the smaller 35 footer, it is ideal for those who want to make long distance cruising their style on the water. The Beneteau Swift Trawler 48 is therefore what you call a bluewater, rated for 12 people in the CE B category.
Beneteau Swift Trawler 48 – Interior
On board this Beneteau motorboat, everything is designed to create a comfortable space even for long stays on board. The Swift Trawler 48 can accommodate up to eight people thanks to her three cabins below deck and dinette. Much attention has been given to storage areas in all sections of the boat. In terms of cabins, the forward master cabin features a double berth that lifts up with storage space below. There are overhead lockers for wardrobes, large hull windows with recessed portholes and plenty of light. The master head includes a separate shower cubicle with teak slatted seat. The port guest cabin has large windows, storage space, wardrobe and two single berths which can be converted into a double. The starboard guest cabin has two portholes, a double transverse berth and a double door wardrobe. A washer/dryer can also be accommodated in this space. Returning to the fourth “cabin” we’re talking about the dinette, which converts into a double bed with curtains around it for more privacy.
Beneteau Swift Trawler 48 – Propulsion and Range
As with the Grand Trawler 62, the waterlines are by MICAD, which has designed a semi-planing hull. This makes it possible to optimize fuel efficiency in all speed ranges, an essential element for those about to go on a long trip. With 1930 litres of fuel on board there is even a range of +600nm at 9 knots displacement speed. At 18 knots of speed (on plane) the range is reduced to 280nm, maintaining a fuel reserve of 10%. 640 litres of fresh water can also be stowed on board. In terms of engines, the standard pair are two 380hp Cummins QSB 6.7-litre engines, which give a top speed of 21 knots. The 425hp engines give a top speed of 25 knots.
