The new Axopar 37 is cheap and very popular: let’s get on board

The Axopar 37 is one of the hottest new additions to the Düsseldorf Boat Show. The hull and engine, two 300 horsepower outboards, unveil the instinct for fun, especially in the “Spyder” version. The other two models available are the Cabin and the Sun-top. Let’s see the more “Mediterranean” model, Sun-top. The secret of the low average price, (the average price for a boat ready for sail with engines is 190.000 €, VAT excluded), for this model, is due to great engineering and large-scale production work. Despite the competitive price, however, the construction quality of the boat remains good.

Axopar 37 Sun Top

The shape is immediately recognizable, we are in front of an Axopar boat. Compared to the previous model the hull has been improved to offer higher performance and stability, with large investments in the development of hydrodynamics of the hull, with CFD simulations, sea trials, tests and calculations. The goal was to have a more responsive, safe and sporty boat with optimized directional stability for more cornering maneuverability.

This boat is designed to be lived on deck, with plenty of space between seats and aft sundeck, all covered by a full length t-top. In addition to this, there is a double forward seat, although this does not compromise the space and versatility of the passages from bow to stern. Below deck the boat has a cabin with a toilet.

The boat has all kinds of optional extras, such as a new luggage rack or a multiple locker, which offer the possibility to carry and transport various types of water toys.

Engineering and Navigation

Compared to the previous model, the average and maximum cruising speeds have increased, while reducing fuel consumption and also increasing the cruising range of the hull by 37′. Equipped with two 300 hp Mercury Verado V8 engines, it now has a top speed of around 50 knots and fuel savings of up to 30% in the cruising range of 20 to 40 knots, with an average of 2.4 l/nm at 30 knots. Another improvement is the increase in cruising speed maintained at the most efficient engine speeds (3500 rpm for the Mercury V8) from 22 knots to 29 knots, which means an improvement of up to +35% without affecting fuel consumption. Tank capacity remains unchanged at 730 litres / 193 US gal.
